The Birth of Darashan: A
Journey of Knowledge
Life has a funny way of bringing us face-to-face with things and ideas that once seemed like distant dreams. For years, I had a deep respect and admiration for our culture, but I must admit, I was a bit unaware of the true understanding of its profound teachings. However, the universe had an unconventional plan for me, and it was during the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic that my spiritual journey truly began.
Locked inside my home during the lockdown, I stumbled upon a captivating treasure – the ancient Indian epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata which were directed by B.R Chopra decades ago. Witnessing the look of sheer joy on the face of my parents when they heard about the rerun of these tales, intrigued me and I decided to watch an episode alongside them. All it took was one episode of Mahabharata to hold me captive, and as I delved into these timeless tales, I was astounded by the depth of wisdom and profound teachings they held.
Everything happening, no matter how small or big, seemed to carry significance as it transcended the boundaries of time and continues to hold deep relevance in contemporary times.
Mahabharata, with its complex web of familial relationships, power struggles, and ethical dilemmas, and the Ramayana, with its tale of love, devotion, and unwavering righteousness, speak to the intricate dynamics of modern-day society. In essence, they form a connection with the present day, serving as an eternal source of guidance, wisdom, and inspiration, resonating deeply with the essence of human existence in every era. I came to realize that everything I had known for years was merely a tiny crystal compared to the vast ocean of knowledge that awaited me, this revelation ignited a powerful motivation within me to attain more divine knowledge.
I devoted myself to researching every question that had lingered in my heart for so long. I delved into sacred texts and explored the vast expanse of knowledge present in our holy scriptures. My perspective on life, relationships, and spirituality transformed profoundly.
But amidst this out worldly transformation, I realized that there must be countless individuals out there like me – people eager to discover the essence of Hinduism, seeking answers to their questions, yet struggling to find the time, resources, or guidance. This filled me with a sense of purpose, and I knew something had to be done.
And so, the idea of Darashan was born.
Darashan, in its simplest form, means “to behold” or “to see.” However, the concept goes beyond mere vision – it’s about having a divine experience, a spiritual connection with the deities and the sacred teachings of Hinduism. Our goal through this platform is to offer unbiased and accurate information to seekers, devotees, and curious minds alike. We aspire to provide a space for those who wish to delve into the depths of our religion and discover solace in its profound truths. We aim to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern understanding, making the spiritual journey more accessible and fulfilling for everyone.
